Oh, I was thinking about what other past food experience do I need to catch up with.
OMG, I should have reported earlier that Saladang is a fantastic restaurant, with delicious Thai food, friendly and responsive servers, and a wonderful, relaxing ambience.
When I went there the first time with a colleague that I had never shared lunch with, I was immediately relaxed to enter an inviting open space. The seating was comfortable and modern, with buddha statues and other Thailand replicas annoting the restaurant. Teresa ordered the pad woon sen, with mung bean noodles, egg, tomato, and bean-sprout. It was out of this world. It looked like a compact pattle but so deliciously packed, with punch. I ordered the yellow curry with potato and carrot in coconut cream, with chicken. It was rich and done right, with a medium thickness.
Teresa and I had a pleasant lunch and ended it with green tea ice cream.
The next time that I went to Saladang I was by myself. I ordered panang with green peas in cocount cream, with chicken. It was the real Panang! It was richly flavored, but not overly flavored. The consistency was perfect. I am sad that I no longer work in the area of North Pasadena.
